These three simple words capture what we are here to do. They speak to what inspires us now, and to our aspirations for the future.

Step inside Seattle Children’s and enter a unique world. We are a compassionate community where skilled physician-researchers, nurses and staff partner with patients and families to help every child live their best life.

Amid the child-friendly, life-size giraffes and elephants that greet you at the door, there is a buzz — an energy and perseverance that define our community. We are united by a compelling mission: to prevent, treat and eliminate pediatric disease.

Seattle Children’s consists of:

Together, we deliver superior patient care, advance new discoveries and treatments through pediatric research, and serve as the pediatric and adolescent academic medical referral center for Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho — the largest region of any children’s hospital in the country.

World-Class Clinical Care

Seattle Children’s Hospital specializes in meeting the unique physical, emotional and developmental needs of children from infancy through young adulthood. For more than 100 years, we have been dedicated to providing top-quality care to every child in our region who needs us, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

Through the collaboration of physicians in nearly 60 pediatric subspecialties, we provide inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, surgical, rehabilitative, behavioral, emergency and outreach services.

Seattle Children’s is consistently ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report magazine. Thanks to our nursing excellence, we received Magnet status in 2008 — an honor bestowed on less than 4% of all hospitals in the United States.

We are also the primary teaching, clinical and research site for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, which is ranked one of the top 10 pediatrics programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report

Support of a Generous Community

Seattle Children’s was initially founded and run by a group of philanthropic women more than 100 years ago. Their generous spirit can be seen today in the support of thousands of donors and guild members. In fiscal year 2009, we expect to provide more than $100 million in under- and uncompensated care.

Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation gathers this extraordinary community support and raises funds for Seattle Children’s Hospital and Seattle Children’s Research Institute.
